Schezwan Chicken Lollipops

Ingredients

  • 500 gms Chicken Lollipops
  • 1 no. Egg
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper Powder
  • 1 tsp Soya Sauce
  • 1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 2 tbsp All purpose Flour
  • 1 tbsp Cornflour or Corn Starch
  • 1 tsp White Vinegar
  • To Taste Salt
  • For Frying Oil

For Schezwan Sauce

  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • 8-10 cloves Garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 inch Ginger, finely chopped
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 1 medium Capsicum, finely chopped
  • 2 tsp Tomato Ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Red Chilli Sauce
  • 1 tsp Soya Sauce
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper Powder
  • To Taste Salt
  • 2 tbsp Water
  • 1 tbsp Corn Flour
  • 2 tbsp Spring onion greens, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Phase 1: Marinate the Chicken Lollipops

    Wash the chicken lollipops thoroughly. Prepare the marination out of Egg, Black Pepper powder, Salt, Soya Sauce, Corn Flour, All purpose Flour, Ginger-Garlic paste, Vinegar. Mix well and coat the chicken with the marination. Keep for minimum 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

  2. Phase 2: Frying the Marinated Chicken Lollipops

    Heat a shallow fry-pan with oil levels at about 1 inch height from the bottom of the pan. Fry the marinated chicken lollipops till they are golden brown from all sides. The shallow frying should take about 10-12 minutes on all sides. Once fried, take them out on a tissue paper to get rid of excess oil.

  3. Step 3: Finish of with Schezwan Sauce

    In a pan heat the butter. Once the butter is melted, add chopped garlic and ginger and fry for a minute. Now add the finely chopped onion and capsicum and saute them on high heat. Season the veggies with salt and black pepper powder. Now add the tomato ketchup, soya sauce and red chilli sauce. Cook the veggies for another minute in the sauces. Make a slurry or medium consistency paste out of corn flour and water such that there are no lumps in the mixture. Add the slurry to the pan and mix well. As the sauce start to thicken toss the fried chicken lollipops into it very lightly and cook for about 1 minute. 

  4. Serve the Schezwan Chicken Lollipops hot and top it up with finely chopped greens of Spring Onion.
