The weekend is almost here. How about treating your loved ones with a super simple yet appetizing ” Schezwan Chicken Lollipops ” dish. With Diwali around the corner, Everyone must be in festive mood and what better way to spend this time with family and good food.
Since #pati was bored of the regular chicken curry, I thought of trying a new way to surprise his taste-buds. However, I could not serve him the deep fried versions usually dished out in restaurants. Also I added some veggies for extra kick to the dish.
I was super glad to see his reaction, when he ate my version of Schezwan Chicken Lollipops. The dish turned out to be super delicious with perfectly cooked chicken, juicy & tender on the inside and crisp on the outside. I so missed my cousins at that time coz they are crazy chicken lovers. They always order this chicken lollipops while dining out.
Frankly, I am no expert on cooking chicken or any other form of non-veg dish. But I am learning my way through hit & trial method. Someday, i hope to become a cook as good as my Mommy and MIL.

Schezwan Chicken Lollipops

Phase 1: Marinate the Chicken Lollipops
Wash the chicken lollipops thoroughly. Prepare the marination out of Egg, Black Pepper powder, Salt, Soya Sauce, Corn Flour, All purpose Flour, Ginger-Garlic paste, Vinegar. Mix well and coat the chicken with the marination. Keep for minimum 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

Phase 2: Frying the Marinated Chicken Lollipops
Heat a shallow fry-pan with oil levels at about 1 inch height from the bottom of the pan. Fry the marinated chicken lollipops till they are golden brown from all sides. The shallow frying should take about 10-12 minutes on all sides. Once fried, take them out on a tissue paper to get rid of excess oil.

Step 3: Finish of with Schezwan Sauce
In a pan heat the butter. Once the butter is melted, add chopped garlic and ginger and fry for a minute. Now add the finely chopped onion and capsicum and saute them on high heat. Season the veggies with salt and black pepper powder. Now add the tomato ketchup, soya sauce and red chilli sauce. Cook the veggies for another minute in the sauces. Make a slurry or medium consistency paste out of corn flour and water such that there are no lumps in the mixture. Add the slurry to the pan and mix well. As the sauce start to thicken toss the fried chicken lollipops into it very lightly and cook for about 1 minute.

Serve the Schezwan Chicken Lollipops hot and top it up with finely chopped greens of Spring Onion.
